Song and Beat Calendar
Song and Beat was founded and created by its Artistic Director, Ernesto Abreu and developed by educator, Shari Honig. In spring 2005, Song and Beat launched its first 10-week class series of “mommy and me” classes on Manhattan’s Upper East Side. It was the only class of its kind, amid a plethora of children’s music and movement classes, because it explored Pan African drum and dance culture and because of the caliber of its teaching artists. They took drumming to a whole new level adding a depth and sophistication that appealed to children and adults alike. Song and Beat was invited to do special events at the following locations:
* PlayGarden
* Association to Benefit Children
* Initial Steps Child Development Center
* Gumbo
* Sol Goldman/ 14th Street Y
* Creative Learning Center
* Preschool of America
* Red Apple Preschool
* Westside JCC
* Mamalú Café, Play & Munch Ground
* Body Elite Gym
* Giggles & Green
Since that time, Song and Beat has been offering no-cost workshops and exploring avenues that would allow us to offer our program to more children in head start, after school, and community based organizations.
